DFCS ILP Policy and Practice In-Service Academy
We are pleased to invite you to take part in a learning event dedicated to child welfare advocates and professionals on the DFCS Independent Living Program (ILP) Policy and Practices.
Dr. Nia Cantey, DHS/DFCS state ILP Program Manager and her team will be presenting.
The ILP Policy and Practice Academy will be held 1:00 pm-3:30 pm on November 13, 2015 at the Douglas County courthouse in Citizen’s Hall.

What are the new directions in ILP (i.e. CB21 Initiative)?
What is Reasonable and Prudent Parenting?
What services does the Independent Living Program provide and how do youth access those services?
What are the roles of the Independent Living Specialist (ILS) vs the Case manager?
What are Extended Youth Support Services (EYSS)?
What are the roles of the Foster parent, Attorney, CASA, GAL, Group Home provider, etc. in supporting the transition to independence for older foster youth?
What are the ways eligible foster youth can be supported using ILP funds?
What are Post Foster Care Resources?
